Last week, Kate Tonge was Guest Speaker at the AGM of Herefordshire Advanced Drivers, the leading local Road Safety charity.

A packed hall heard her present the latest ways to help drivers feel safer, driving in today’s traffic.

What made this remarkable is that Kate grew up in Ross-on-Wye, where her parents still live. When she came back from university, her first job was with The Ross Gazette, followed by a period with in West Mercia Police and, most recently, being appointed as Marketing Director with IAM RoadSmart.

She became an Advanced Driver at the age of 20 with the Herefordshire Group, where her observer was Andy Vaughan, also from Ross, who went on to become a local driving instructor. Her dad, Christopher Deane, also passed as Advanced Driver with them.

Kate said: “It was a pleasure to be back here where my advanced driving journey started. The passion for the benefits it can bring to motorists of all ages was much in evidence among members attending the AGM".

“Advanced driving has been a skill for life for me. It has increased my confidence and enjoyment behind the wheel. The team at Herefordshire Advanced Drivers continue to share their expertise and experience to help others gain the same confidence and enjoy the freedom of the road.”

Your next opportunity to take part in their popular "Driver Review Day" in Ross will be Wednesday, September 25th at the Larruperz Centre, which will aim to demonstrate the latest safer driver techniques which you will be able to

put into practice in your own car, guided by an experienced, friendly adviser who will give you tips that will benefit you for life.
