Several different generations joined together in the joy of music when Ross Town Training Band entertained the elderly residents with a mixture of both old and new music.
The sun was shining through the windows at Ross Court Residential Home, on June 28th, as the residents sat inside whilst the band played outside, each enjoying the sounds of the brass instruments with percussion.
The training band has come such a long way since its beginning in January of this year under the brilliant direction of Miss Isobel Cook. Their obvious understanding of the pieces and the way they have gelled as a band is very commendable. Players come in all shapes, sizes and abilities, the youngest player, Jonathan Gren, being only ten years old with a natural talent for the cornet.
The residents were obviously enjoying it as they tapped their toes and clapped their hands along to the tunes, showing that live music can brighten even our English summer.
Ross Training Band will be holding more concerts during the course of the year and attendance is thoroughly recommended, then you can say you were there with them at the beginning of their musical careers.
