The Hoarwithy mannequins which appeared at the riverside just before Christmas seem to have been vandalised.
Local resident, Mark Robinson, who was very impressed by the mannequins when he first saw them told the Ross Gazette that he was very upset when he saw the damage.
He said:?“It must have happened in the last couple of nights as the road has been closed and I have not been on my usual school run that way as a consequence – I now feel guilty about bringing attention to them in the first place, can’t believe the mentality of the perpetrators.”
Many people commented on the mannequins when they first appeared, they looked like an elderly couple enjoying the view over the river.
However the head has been taken off the male figure and the female mannequin seems to have disappeared. Some people have suggested that it might be due to the weather but others think that it is the result of vandalism.
Two people seem to have claimed responsibility for creating the mannequins. They were asked to contact the Ross Gazette to say why they had put them there in the first place and if they intend to replace them, but have not yet done so.
