The Friends of Ross Hospital have recently bought 60 chairs for the reception and waiting room; this new addition to the hospital cost the Friends £10,000.
There are pink chairs in the reception area, and blue ones in the waiting room. Jill Davies, the Chairman of the Friends of Ross Hospital, explained that they were expensive because they have to be up to a very high standard to be used in the hospital; for instance, they need to be easy to clean and wipe down, so as not to harbour bacteria.
Jill told the Gazette: “I’d like to thank members of the Friends of Ross Hospital, and the local people for all their donations.”
The Friends of Ross Hospital pay a fee for their membership, which goes towards the funding of any items that Ross-on-Wye Community Hospital require. In addition, the group hold coffee mornings, and organise other fundraising events, such as raffles and fetes.
