The Annual Meeting of the Town Council took place on Monday night and elected a new Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Ross. Councillor Chris Bartrum was elected new Mayor while Councillor Colin Gray will be his Deputy.

After his election, Councillor Bartrum said: "I have lived in Ross since 2000, and moved here because my family and I thought it was, and still think it is, a brilliant market town and beautiful place to bring up children. Back then I didn't think I'd ever stand for political office or ever be in a position to be voted in as Mayor."

The new Mayor thanked the other Councillors after they voted him into office. Councillor Bartrum then proposed Councillor Colin Gray as Deputy Mayor and the other Councillors unanimously voted him into office.

Both new Mayor and Deputy Mayor signed and read their declarations of office and the Council finalised appointments to committees and outside bodies.

At the same meeting members of the Ross and Betzdorf Twinning Association will be participating in a wreath laying ceremony at the Prospect at 10am on Saturday.
