Whitchurch and Ganarew Memorial Hall are pleased to welcome back “New Orleans Heat” on Saturday, July 14th, from 7.15pm, (supper 7.30pm, jazz start 8pm), as part of their popular live jazz events.
New Orleans Heat are a seven piece band, playing jazz in the New Orleans style. They are one the one of the busiest bands on the UK jazz scene as well as making regular tours of Scandinavia.
They are a highly professional band of top class musicians and will provide another great evening’s entertainment at Whitchurch.
New Orleans Heat play the old style New Orleans jazz, recreating the music of the crescent city, be it a stomp, blues, hymn, spiritual or pop song of the day. In the style of the late great, Bunk Johnson, George Lewis and Kid Thomas bands. Their motto is “helping to keep the real jazz alive.”
The regular line up consists of - Gwyn Lewis cornet, Mike Taylor Trombone, John Scantlebury clarinet/sax, Harry Slater bass and Tony Peatman banjo, Barry Grummett piano, Colin Bushell drums.
