THE FORMER owners of a popular High Street tearoom say they are looking forward to a quieter life in retirement after handing over the keys to new owners.
Pots and Pieces Teashop and Giftshop in Ross-on-Wye has been sold to new owners after 13 successful years of trading.
David and Sara Bruce opened the shop in the town centre in 2008 but have sold the business to spend more time with their grandchildren and families.
The new owners, mother and daughter team Laurence and Meg, are set to rebrand the shop as The Ginger Hut Cafe, although they won’t be changing too much about the business.
Laurence said: “We look forward to meeting David and Sara’s regular customers and lots of new customers at The Ginger Hut Cafe.
“We will be offering much of what has been so popular in the past along with some of our own new ideas.”
Laurence and Meg say they will continue to offer ‘high quality’ food and drink along with a ‘friendly welcome’.
Pots and Pieces is recognised by Trip Advisor as the number one tea and retail shop in Ross, while the cafe has also received accolades from the Times Newspaper, Restaurant Guru and the Hidden Places of England guide book.
It was also voted the ‘Number One Place to Eat in Ross-on-Wye’ as part of the Discover Ross competition which was organised by local MP Jesse Norman in 2014.
The cafe has also held a five-star hygiene rating throughout its existence and was a finalist at the Flavours of Herefordshire festival.
David and Sara wanted to thank all of their staff, past and present, their regular customers and the thousands of visitors that have ‘made working in our market town so enjoyable’.
They said: “We are so happy that Laurence and Meg are taking over, we couldn’t have found nicer people.
“We hope they both enjoy the shop as much as we have and we look forward to seeing their new business go from strength to strength”.
