Leading addiction charity, Addaction, which originally showed interest in setting up a base in Ross-on-Wye in the Old Chapel, has found a new Ross home.

Ross-on-Wye locals who are coping with addiction are now able to access the supportive and compassionate new service, as Addaction opened a base in the church hall of St Mary’s on October 6th.

Addaction is a national substance misuse and mental health charity that helps individuals to recover from drug and alcohol addiction. They empower people to make positive changes in their own lives as well as in their local communities.

The free and confidential service will provide a wide range of evidence-based interventions and treatments.

Their team of specialist, highly qualified staff will offer support groups for service users, as well as groups for family and friends who may be concerned about a loved one’s substance use.

They will offer assessments on Wednesdays and Thursdays with additional appointments to suit their clients’ needs. Addaction in Ross-on-Wye will also deliver a needle and syringe programme to ensure a safer environment for service users and the community.

The Rev’d Sarah Jones, the Rector of St Mary’s said: “We are delighted to be hosting Addaction in St Mary’s Hall. We understand that addiction can happen to anyone in any family and it is important that high-quality professional help is available. Addaction has an excellent reputation and we are pleased that we are able to support them and their clients.”

Emma-Louise Hannah, team leader at Addaction Herefordshire, said: “We’re really excited to have a permanent base in Ross-on-Wye. We’re confident the new base will benefit our service users, allowing for greater flexibility as well as stability. We feel privileged to be working alongside St Mary’s Church, who have a real understanding of the needs of our service users and the community.”
