MADAM, Has anyone else noticed the
new village that has suddenly appeared
along the A49 between Pengethley and
Peterstow, with the costly erection of
huge yellow signs with speed restriction?
What did they cost and why? The
A49 is acknowledged as one of the most
dangerous roads in Britain so why do
we need such another huge distraction
for a village that does not exist!
If speed really is the problem and
goodness knows there are more than
enough varying signs along its length,
then maybe it should have a
lower restriction also and then half the
signs could be done away with.
The new signs are in the wrong place
as they refer to the crossroads at the Red
Lion just before Peterstow and does this
perhaps signify the start of naming each
crossroad, eg St Owen's Cross, Old Pike
Junction, Pengethley, Harewood End
Pitch, Windmill Hill, Llandinabo,
Crosscollar - the list goes on, and at
whose expense? Time for a review of
our Council Tax.
Nick Helme, not sure of my
address, is it Winter's Cross or as formerly
Peterstow.
