Madam, After four weeks of the most exciting General Election campaign for decades, we have a new MP locally and a new and fascinating result nationally.
Although I campaigned hard against him, Jesse Norman is our new MP and I congratulate him and hope that he will work hard for the constituency and for Ross in the coming months and years.
Indications at the count suggest that Ross voted Liberal Democrat and I would like to thank the thousands of people who voted for us as well as all those who knocked on doors, delivered leaflets and put up posters. Without you, and of course those who did the same for our opponents, we wouldn't have a democracy at all.
Finally, just when you thought you were now safe from a deluge of leaflets and people knocking on your door, there is another election in the West Ward of Ross on May 27th, this time for Ross Town Council! There will be no polling cards issued, so just turn up to vote at your usual polling station.
I hope that you will support Caroline Utting, who will bring fresh energy and fresh ideas to the Town Council.
