MADAM, At a time when there seems to be so much negative media discussion about the National Health Service, I just wanted to make a few personal observations of my knowledge and experience of General Practice (GP) NHS services locally.
Before my retirement, and as many people will be aware, I was, for many years, a former Practice Manager at one of the Doctor's Surgeries in Ross. I remember very clearly my involvement in the appointment of Dr Janis to the practice in Chepstow House. In Ross, she along with other Ross Doctors and their teams of reception staff, nurses and professionals have given, and continue to give, an excellent service to local people.
People have commented to me on numerous occasions that Dr Janis is a very kind, caring, thoughtful and professional individual. I was therefore very sorry to hear that she was leaving the Surgery in Ross. I therefore wish to pay tribute for her outstanding 21 years of service to her many patients and to wish her well for the future. Had I known that she was leaving, to date, I have not seen any mention of this via the Gazette, then I, along with others, would have been happy to have made a contribution to a leaving present, and to have the opportunity to say our thank yous and farewells.
I also want to pay tribute to my own GP and local Doctor, Dr Andy Rogers. He has simply been superb in relation to the care, support and advice received when I was unwell during the middle part of 2013. I really have greatly appreciated his help and assistance and also the support that he and his colleagues and teams have provided to myself and local people over many years – thank you.
With my very best wishes to all those involved in the NHS in Ross, and, to wish them, together with the readers of the Gazette and friends, a very healthy and successful 2014.
Joyce Thomas MBE DL,
Fownhope
