Herefordshire Walking Festival takes place from June 16th to 24th, 2018; nine days, forty three walks and one beautiful county to explore.

It is certainly a programme with a difference this year. The Mortimer Trail is the long distance path walked in three sections over the first weekend, with transfers included. Lots of ‘good walks’ over beautiful countryside interleaved with a circular cycle ride from Ross to Brockhampton and Hoarwithy, the twenty-miler through South Herefordshire, ‘walking art’ explained by Jess Allen or walking through ancient woodland with poet Jean Atkin from the Ledbury Poetry Festival.

Kentchurch Court has opened its gardens; ancient and modern cider orchards plus a Cider Museum tour; walks around Croft Castle with a private tour of the walled garden; turnpike roads, drovers’ roads, a Roman road at Leintwardine. Sellack stories, a geological app for your smartphone or tablet to observe the rocks encountered en route; a cider tribute to the Solstice, with a cider maker and a cider supper.  Beat the Bounds of Hay. You will never fit it all in.
