Madam, My husband and I recently came to Ross-on-Wye for a few days holiday - it was our very first visit. What a beautiful area it is situated in.

The river walks are so lovely but why spoil a place of natural beauty with artificial swans when you have the real thing in abundance. They are totally incongruous and would be more suited to a theme park.

Our only other disappointment was the lack of evening entertainment. We are both fit over 65s and like dancing, Jazz and some of the modern music but found bars and restaurants the only options.

However we did spend three most enjoyable days staying at the Kings Head with excellent food and service.

P.S. If Rob Brain reads this letter, we did go to Symonds Yat on his recommendation, and it did have the 'wow' factor.

Editor's Note: We at The Ross Gazette are rather fond of Walenty Pytel's swans and ducks by the river. We feel privileged to have such a talented sculptor living close to Ross. He also carved the fish outside the Man of Ross pub.
