STAFF and users of Ross Library have been struggling to concentrate on their activities over the last few days, as construction workers have tackled one of the toughest parts of the building's alteration project.

The sound of hammering and power tools occasionally rose to ear-splitting levels on Monday and Tuesday, as workers removed masonry and solid concrete – but staff, at least, are sanguine about the distraction.
