It has been an exciting time at Age Concern Ross as they recently moved back into their newly refurbished offices at 27 Brookend Street, Ross-on-Wye and merged with Age UK Herefordshire & Worcestershire. This means they can use the logo of Age UK, so have rebranded as Age UK Herefordshire & Worcestershire Ross Office. This will mean they can expand the services they offer, whilst also saving on back office costs.
It was a time to celebrate and so, a party was organised along with other local charities, RVS, HVOSS, EnviroAbility, Herefordshire Community Foundation, Ross Leg Club and Community First to name a few. Tea and cakes provided by the local Poppy’s Bakery were enjoyed. The event was well supported by representatives from Ross Town and Hereford County Council, as well as lots of volunteers.
Age UK Herefordshire & Worcestershire Ross Office has a great team of volunteers some of whom also attended the event. Alison Fletcher of Age UK Ross Office told the Ross Gazette: “Volunteers are everything to an organisation like ours, we could not provide all the services and support to the older members of our community without them. The event showed the great connections that we have here in Ross and that by working together we can keep the charity sector strong and vibrant, for example: the Christmas Day lunch.”
There are still places available for anyone who might benefit from a hot meal and some company on Christmas Day, so if you’ve still yet to book a place then contact Age UK Ross on 01989 76887 or 01989 763388.
The main work of Age UK Ross Office will continue to be to make later life as easy as possible by ensuring older people claim everything they are entitled too, guiding people through complex systems and paperwork. Auge UK Ross also offers a toenail cutting service, befriending volunteers to alleviate feelings of loneliness and computer sessions to learn more about the benefits of being online.
