John Kyrle High School’s Headteacher, Nigel Griffiths has been selected as an Ofsted Inspector Ambassador, one of only eight school leaders in the country to be offered the position.
Luke Tryl, the Director of Corporate Strategy at Ofsted wrote to explain how the role would give Mr Griffiths a unique opportunity to influence and have input into Ofsted policies and ongoing work. Mr Tryl said:?“You will be in position to speak on behalf of your peers, both fellow Ofsted inspectors and headteachers.”
As part of a national reference group, Mr Griffiths will help develop the forthcoming new national inspection framework for September 2019 and contribute to regional activities across the West Midlands.
Mr Griffiths told the Ross Gazette that he is looking forward to the new role which he feels will enhance his leadership of John Kyrle. He will spend approximately 20 days per year on both this new role and continuing to lead inspections of secondary schools. Mr Griffiths said the opportunity to help shape the national agenda for the benefit of pupils, parents, teachers, school leaders and governors is one he will relish. Dave Boyd will continue in his role as ‘Operational Headteacher’, working alongside Mr Griffiths and school staff.
Chair of Trustees at John Kyrle, Denise Strutt, said that it is a great compliment for the school to have its Headteacher involved with Ofsted at its highest level. She told the Gazette that the trustees are very happy to support Mr Griffiths in this work. They are confident he will contribute to the new Ofsted framework and continue to bring back ideas which benefit John Kyrle’s students and staff.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
