Since the thefts and vandalism which took place earlier this year, the volunteers at Lea Bailey Light Railway have been working hard to get everything back in order. They are making good progress but are not quite there yet.
Many volunteers have full-time jobs or own their own business, so free time has been at a premium in the last few weeks.
As a result they have scaled-down the usual Open Weekend into a low-key Open Day which will take place on Sunday, September 22nd between 11:00am and 3:00pm.
The usual action-packed activities have been put on hold until next Spring to give everyone all a chance to finish some outstanding tasks but the Motor Rail "Simplex" 21282 will be in running order and available for demonstration trains. A small group of volunteers will be on site to give progress updates and outline future plans.
They will also be happy to give some advice on how to join them as a volunteer.
