There will be an Open Day at the new Ross Horizon Centre, a day centre for adults with learning difficulties on Wednesday, November 22nd.

Three colleagues who were made redundant when adult services closed at the Ryefield Centre have used their redundancy package to set up their own day centre.

Lou Elsmore, Clarissa Hill and Maria Barnett were so distressed that the adults they support would no longer be able to stay in Ross they decided to do something about it.

They set up a CIC, a Community Interest Company and in just a few weeks they have located premises, have tackled the move and started the transformation into a bright welcoming space.

The trio are thrilled with all the support they have received from the team at the Herefordshire Regeneration Programme, members of the local community, the Woolf Family and Simon Cutter at Model Farm as without their support they would not have been able to get the business off the ground so quickly.

They have also set up a crowd funding page as they realise they need more investment to ensure the centre can continue to meet the needs of the people who will use it.

They told the Gazette they are really excited. They have years of experience on the care side as well as business experience. They will be working as three equal members of the team alongside the adults they support. Visit the new Ross Horizon Centre at the Woolf Business Park to see just what these three amazing, enthusiastic women have already achieved and what they may be able to offer you, or someone you care for.
