The Open Gardens event organised by The Friends of St Mary’s, Ross-on-Wye was a great success, with 19 gardens open, hundreds of visitors and even the weather played its part.
Peter Reynolds, Chairman of The Friends of St Mary’s told the Ross Gazette, “We had a fantastic day.”
He said that the Friends are very grateful to everyone who supported Ross Open Gardens, the hardworking gardeners, as well as the 700 or more visitors who so cheerfully worked their way around the gardens. There were also 30 volunteers from St Mary’s who smoothed the running of the event and brewed over 1,000 cups of tea.
The Friends have raised over £6,500 to assist the maintenance and improvement of the fabric of the Parish Church, whose spire is the iconic feature of our townscape.
He added: "We may well do it again, the provisional date is June 8th and 9th, 2019."
