There is a sign near the M50 junction by the Traveller’s Rest roundabout that says: “M50 (E) is closed from October 9 to December 22 from 8pm to 6am.”
Highways England senior project manager, Jess Kenny, said: “We’re carrying out work on Bury Court, Pendock Sledge and Queens Arms Bridges to ensure this stretch of the M50 is able to operate safely for all road users.
“Work to install props to the bridges is beginning imminently and there will be some overnight closures on the M50, so the work can take place when the road is at its quietest.
“We’re looking to do work in phases and are working closely with local partners as we seek to keep any disruption to a minimum.
“If any of the three bridges need to be closed as part of the works, we will inform the local community as soon as possible.”
The M50 is operating with one lane between junctions one and two during the day. While there will be some overnight closures of the M50, it will not be every night.
A spokesperson for Highways England said: “We do everything possible to plan and manage our work to keep traffic moving, minimise disruption for motorists, businesses and residents and maximise safety.
“We will continue to keep people informed as work progresses.”See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
