Birthday girl, Rosalie Shepherd, had a double reason to celebrate on Thursday, it was her 18th birthday and she learnt that she had got the grades required to read Chemistry at Queen's College, Oxford.
In fact every pupil at John Kyrle High School passed more than a quarter achieved the top A grade. Five students are off to Oxbridge and Chris Ball, Head of Science, was delighted with the results, he said he had never had all his students get exactly what they wanted.
The school's successful Oxbridge candidates include Jessica Bricknell who will read Chemistry at Worcester College; Caroline Phelps to read Physiology at St Catherine's College; Stefan Turner to read English Literature at Corpus Christi College and Rosalie Shepherd to read Chemistry at Queen's College.
Whilst these students will study at Oxford, the school's Head Boy, James Lester, has been accepted at Girton College, Cambridge to read Natural Sciences.
