A Town Councillor, Hannah Lerego, and the Young Person Workers and residents at SHYPP’s Ross-on-Wye Foyer have joined forces to organise this year’s pancake races on behalf of the Association of Ross Traders (ART). In previous years ART has organised the races, but are unable to do so this year.

Natasha Davies, a Young Person Worker at the Ross Foyer, explained that the young residents wanted to give something back to the town, as many local people have been very generous and kind in previous fundraising activities and projects undertaken.

The SHYPP residents will also be holding a bake sale to raise funds for their communal room to make it more cosy and homely. They will be raising local awareness for the proposed 66% cut to their budget.

Natasha Davies said that all of the funds that the residents raise during local events directly benefit SHYPP’s residents living in Ross; the money does not go out of the town to the other SHYPP residents living in other parts of the county.

The pancake races will be held on Tuesday, February 9th from 2.30pm - 4.30pm on Broad Street in Ross-on-Wye.

William Wilding will be comparing, and Ray Hill has offered to do the sound. Anyone else who would like to be involved with the event, can contact Cllr Lerego by emailing her on [email protected], or calling 01989 762164.

If anyone would like to assist with the bake sale, by donating a cake to sell, contact Natasha, on 01989 569924. You can also email her: [email protected].
