MADAM, I have just read this week's Gazette. Congratulations – your editorial says it all.

Today's hooliganism seemingly is the product of today's schools and parental neglect. I taught for 40 years when schools educated and instructed with a minimum of aids – and with parental cooperation we produced high standards of work and behaviour, despite post-war shortages. Not easy but accomplished wonders. How can it all be rectified?
