Local band Nycosia’s EP album ‘Pariah’ is now being sold online after their successful launch gig at the Hereford College of Arts.

Nycosia, whose band members are from all around Herefordshire including Sellack, Ross-on-Wye, are reaping the benefits of an excellent launch gig. The band’s manager, Rose Kibble, said: ‘the band sold quite a lot of albums at the EP launch, and the album has also been bought in the States, Germany and France’.

When asked about the name of the new album ‘Pariah’, Rose told the Gazette: "The band had a sheet full of ideas for the title, and they eventually chose ‘Pariah’ as they felt it really connected to all the songs on their album, paticularly their first demo ‘Mind of a Hermit’."

Nycosia felt that ‘Pariah’ linked to the album’s artwork too, which was done by local illustrator Tom Roberts, whom’s work the band has always loved.’

Nycosia placed a heavy emphasis on the art, as fans of its techmetal genre tend to pay close attention to album artwork. Rose explained that Nycosia had always wanted Tom Roberts to do their album’s art, and that when they met him, the art evolved in a very organic way; the band and Tom bounced ideas around, whilst still managing to maintain a central theme. The band and Tom decided that the albums art would be called ‘Celestial Heritage’.

In an interview with the Ross Gazette, Nycosia’s lead vocalist, Adam, discussed the meaning behind their first album. He explained that: "Pariah is about Nycosia starting out in their career; putting themselves out into the industry and trying to make their mark."

Adam went on to explain that: "Greed within the music industry is a key point in the album, but regardless of this, we still intend to make it our home.’’

These implications are paticularly apparent towards the end of the album in their songs ‘Miscommunication’ and ‘Asylum Song’. This is definitely a coming out album about the band finding their feet.

Nycosia have now been invited by Metal Hammer Magazine to have their first single, ‘Miscommunication’ in its April edition and in the future they are looking to perform in Metal Festivals across England.
