A petition set up by Ross Town Council calling on local people to add their signatures to their request to the Wye Valley NHS Trust to review its decision to introduce parking charges at Ross Community Hospital will close on Friday, August 25th.

The Wye Valley NHS Trust announced, at the end of June, that parking charges at Ross-on-Wye Community Hospital would be introduced from Monday, July 10th. However, although the pay and display machines have been installed they have been kept under wraps for over a month.

A spokesperson for the Wye Valley NHS Trust told the Ross Gazette, “We’re waiting for the company installing the pay and display machines to let us know when they’ve been commissioned and are ready for use.

“This is likely to be early September across all our community hospital sites. In the meantime, the parking remains free.”

The petition organised by Ross Town Council is calling on the Wye Valley NHS Trust to review its decision, which was made without prior consultation.

The petition can still be signed at the Town Council offices or there is a copy in the Ross Gazette office at 54A Broad Street.
