MADAM, I write with regard to your article in last week's paper concerning Jackie Cook, her severely disabled son and her being issued with a parking ticket because she overstayed the time allowed to park in a disabled by in the town.
I too am disabled and I am in possession of a badge which I display in the window of my car that allows me to park for a maximum of three hours in a disabled parking space.
I can only sympathise with Mrs Cook and the predicament she found herself in. I would argue that my badge is issued by the appropriate authorities in the UK and they are allowing me to park for three hours. I would never think for one moment to look at the sign which says that in Ross I am only allowed to park for two hours.
I think it is wrong that Herefordshire Council can go against the general rule and impose their own terms and conditions for disabled people. I would suggest that if their own set of rules continue to be enforced by the traffic wardens this will do nothing to encourage disabled people to visit Ross.
Amelia Read.
