Parliament was dissolved just after midnight this morning, Wednesday, November 6th, signalling the official start of election campaigning ahead of the December 12th vote.

MPs are now candidates for election, but who is standing for Hereford and South Herefordshire?

Diana Toynbee is standing as a green candidate in the 2019 General Election.

Long-standing campaigner, Lucy Hurds, will fight the Hereford and South Herefordshire seat, while Ledbury Councillor Phillip Howells is standing for North Herefordshire, both for the Liberal Democrats.

Former Hereford and South Herefordshire MP, Jesse Norman, is standing for the Conservative Party.

Matt Slocombe, the landlord of the Crown Inn at Woolhope, is the Brexit Party candidate and says it is time to vote for someone who truly represents the real people of the county. The UK Independence Party have yet to have announced their local candidate, while a spokesperson for the Labour Party said: “We’re working to elect a Labour MP for Hereford and South Herefordshire.”

The Ross Gazette will remain updated with the local candidates as the parties announce them.
