Councillor Phil Cutter will be raising residents’ concerns about parking on Sussex Avenue with both Ross Town Council and Herefordshire Council.

Cllr Cutter has spoken to local residents who are calling for parking restrictions on Sussex Avenue.

The residents say that vehicles are being parked on the pavement on the east side of Sussex Avenue, which is against the law. They have noticed that this is happening more frequently since the introduction of parking charges at Ross Community Hospital. The residents are worried about the safety of pedestrians, as well as the problems for larger vehicles which cannot pass between the parked cars.

They have started a petition asking for similar parking restrictions to be put in place as there are in Kent Avenue, or for the law regarding parking on pavements to be enforced.

Cllr Cutter told the Ross Gazette that he had been informed by the local police officers that they have visited Sussex Avenue.

He said that they have informed him that they placed advisory notices on several vehicles which have been parked on the pavements and made the road very narrow, and difficult for other traffic. However, they said that if there is still room for pedestrians to get around safely, they would not usually issues tickets.

Cllr Cutter told the Ross Gazette: “I will be taking this petition to the Town and County Council. This has been a serious issue for some time affecting residents, and as ward member I will be taking it forward on their behalf.”
