Madam, It is time for reality – those against the proposed Tesco in Ross need to come into the real world and realise they are paying well over the odds in Morrisons as there is no, or very little, competition. Competition is healthy and drives down prices.

As an example the Esso garage in Ledbury Road and the BP garage in Commercial Road, both in Hereford, sell unleaded petrol for 126.9p per litre whereas Morrisons charge 131.9p per litre in Ross. (All prices checked on Sunday, November 24th). A whole 5p more. Also you will pay less for goods in Morrisons in Hereford than you do in Ross. WHY - because there is competition for your custom in Hereford. I expect the manager of the Ross Morrisons has his hands tied by those in greater authority but perhaps he could try through your paper to justify this difference. The sooner we have Tescos in Ross the sooner we will feel the benefit in our purses.
