SUE WILLIAMS, renowned for her smart designer clothes, bright jewellery

and immaculate make-up, had to get dirty on the farm last week and

become an emergency midwife. She went to visit her friend Nicole

Leaker, whose partner has a farm near Gorsley. Nicole is convalescing after

being seriously injured in a car accident. She broke both collar bones,

shattered her ribs and had a punctured lung. Spring is in the air and seeing the baby lambs, Sue asked how many had been born, so Nicole showed her around, took her to the field to see the new lambs and the cows and calves, then they went into the barn where there were ewes with twins in the pens and ewes with single lambs in the open area. One ewe was walking about looking noticed that her waters had broken always come out legs first," said Nicole, who delivered many of the

lambs a year ago. But Sue noticed that something waswrong. "I can see a head poking out, but not the legs," she said.

The lamb's head was swelling and Nicole said: "We have got to get the

feet out. We could lose both of them.
