Madam, We would like to thank the many supporters of the recent Film Festival, presented by the Screen at the Phoenix committee last week.

The first of its kind held in Ross, the Festival turned out to be a great success Not all of the screenings at the Festival were smash hits because we deliberately set out to cater for a variety of tastes. But we gained a lot of valuable evidence about the kind of films likely filmgoers would like to see.

Such enthusiasm with the venue was shown that we are confidently going ahead with the plan to introduce a new attraction for Ross—its own top class cinema showing a range of films on a regular basis. In fact we are boldly starting on Sunday, July 31st, with a subtitled French romantic comedy called Heartbreaker. This will be followed by a mixture of new and old English language, as well as foreign, films.

Full details of the proposed programme of films will be announced shortly after a meeting of the Phoenix theatre management committee, that is due to be held today.

Meanwhile once again thanks to the many people who enjoyed a real cinema experience at the Phoenix during the Festival week.

Cllr John Edwards, chairman of the Screen at the Phoenix cinema committee
