AN old red phone box which a parish council purchased for £1 two years ago has been transformed into a community attraction.
Not only can English Bicknor villagers collect their weekly copy of the Forest and Wye Valley Review from the former pay phone, there are now shelves for book swaps and a noticeboard for parishioners.
The refurbishment is the work of Yorkshireman Brian Hardy, father of local resident Nicola Grubb, who revamped the box on one of his trips to the Forest.
