RESIDENTS who live around the junction of Fernbank Road and Eastfield Road
are facing yet another fight against a mobile phone mast, this time for a third generation pole. The application has been made by Vodafone for a 10 metre high telecommunications pole. Many residents feel the site is totally unsuitable for such an installation. Mrs Pauline David contacted the Gazette because she had taken a photograph and drawn in where the mast will be. She said this shows how unsuitable the site is because it is so close to a well used children's play area and a parking area for walkers using
the Town and Country Trail, it is intrusive and in the middle of a residential area. She is also concerned about the safety aspects as this is a third generation installation which operates at higher frequencies.
