THE state of the exterior of the town’s library has been highlighted by concerned residents of Ross-on-Wye over the amount of pigeon droppings in the area.

The residents have said that the weeds are almost a foot tall and they are intermingled with hundreds of feathers in amongst them.

It was pointed out that pigeon poop was everywhere around the building, even in parts where the public does not have access.

It has been reported that feathers are being blow in, or walked in, to the library itself.

The library staff said that the exterior issues of dealing with the pigeon poop on the exterior was out of their remit and needs to be undertaken by specialists.

A spokesperson for Herefordshire Council said it is aware of the pigeon problem affecting the exterior of Ross Library and added:” While the library remains open, clean and welcoming to visitors, we recognise the nuisance this is causing and have already taken steps to mitigate the impact.

“Our property team are working on a permanent solution, though the works are complex due to the building’s location. In the meantime, we are continuing regular cleaning of the entrance area to keep it as clear and welcoming as possible.”
