Madam, Having read your article 'Grotesque vandals' in
last week's Ross Gazette, I feel the need to object to some
of the terms used.
To speak of human beings as "pea-brained", "in
need of shooting" and "a little pig" I find very offensive. To
read that our mayor was one of the contributors offended
me more, she being the voice of Ross people (she speaks
not for me).
We don't know how things happened, and to label it
on grotesque vandals and to judge people in this way is
what I find grotesque.
Maybe the Gazette could try more balanced reporting
instead of using headlines you only see elsewhere in the
tabloids.
B Bundy, Ross
Editor's note: For the benefit of readers who may not have
seen last week's piece, we'd like to point out that the
terms Mr Bundy objects to were used not by our reporter,
but by people living in Ross. They were clearly printed as
quotations, and, we felt, gave a measure of the anger local
residents feel when public amenities are wilfully damaged.
