Morrisons in Ross-on-Wye made plans recently to have a barber shop in their supermarket. The Ross Gazette receieved many comments concerning this, a lot of which were complaints. Herefordshire Council’s determination date was intended to be Monday, September 10th.
It has been declared that the plans have been refused by Herefordshire Council.
Many objections were sent to them regarding the barber shop. The Clerk for Ross-on-Wye’s Town Council wrote and said: “I can inform you that members of the committee strongly object to the application.”
The Town Council’s reasons to object were shared by many in Ross-on-Wye. Amongst many, the Town Council included that: “The application would affect the viability of similar businesses in Ross-on-Wye town centre. The application would set a precedent for further business applications of a similar nature on the site. The application is inaccurate as it would clearly reduce the number of ’mother and child’ car parking spaces by three and therefore have an impact on the level of car parking.”
Although there was some support for the potential for a barber shop, much of Ross-on-Wye has welcomed the decision so far.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now
