A planning application for 290 new homes on land east of the A40 in Ross-on-Wye, which was first given permission in 2014, is moving a step nearer to work starting.
The development was given the go ahead despite concerns regarding road safety raised at the Herefordshire Planning Committee meeting on Wednesday, June 25th, 2014. Concerns were raised at the planning meeting about the lack of services and infrastructure and the impact this number of new homes would have.
It was agreed that outline permission be given but all delegated details would be considered by the officers in conjunction with the local Councillors.
The development is on land east of the A40, opposite the Persimmon development and up towards the Label’s roundabout. Access will be via the new roundabout which was installed as part of the Persimmon development, and a new roundabout which will be created at the other end of the A40, nearer to the Label’s roundabout.
The developers, Edenstone Homes have now submitted the application for the reserved matters. Consultation is now open and will close on February 20th. A target date has been set for a decision to be made by April 16th. According to the application details the scheme will centre around public space and Edenstone say that they are keen to provide new developments which have a community focus. An application for a new community building is also proposed for the site.
