Lidl has submitted a revised planning application for a new supermarket in Ross-on-Wye, along with new business units and key infrastructure to support the regeneration of the Wolf Business Park following the withdrawal of its previous application in Autumn 2018.
The proposals would create up to 40 jobs at the new Lidl store, plus allow up to 60 additional jobs to be created through the regeneration of the wider business park.
Lidl has worked closely with the owners of the Wolf Business Park to put forward plans that will help redevelop the site. The plans seek to protect existing operations and create new opportunities for the park’s tenants and businesses in the local area. To achieve this, Wolf Business Park are looking to sell part of the land to Lidl.
Lidl has stated that these proposals will benefit the town and encourage further growth and investment through improving facilities and generating a large number of new jobs.
Lidl’s Regional Head of Property said: “Since our last application was withdrawn last autumn, we have been working very hard to address points raised by planning officers in relation to the previous proposals.
“As a result, we have made a number of changes to our application including significant additional tree planting, highways improvements to encourage pedestrian and cycle access, further commitments to the delivery of four business units prior to the occupation of the store, as well as other measures such as enclosures around the loading area to minimise any potential operational noise.
“We are extremely grateful for the ongoing support we have received for these proposals and I look forward to working closely with local residents and the Council to achieve all the benefits this application can bring to the town.”
