An application has been made to Herefordshire Council planning committee for permission for alterations to the Brooks Country House Hotel, Peterstow, Ross-on-Wye. The proposal is for a single storey Orangery extension to the south façade of Pengethley Manor and the covering over of adjacent archeological remains.

The developers say they aim to deliver a high quality design which is appropriate for an historic building.

The property has previously been extended to provide additional toilet and storage room facilities adjacent to the extension location. The proposed orangery is to abut the existing building and will extend over the Regency gable onto the modern toilet wing. It will be necessary to reconfigure the roof and south wall of the WC block to form this intervention but will not harm any original features from the listed building.

Proposed materials are a high-quality mix of painted timber doors and windows to match the main building.

A decision is expected to be made by October 17th.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
