Plans to build 44 houses in Ross, along with associated parking, access, and landscaping were submitted to Herefordshire Council August 19.

The proposed development is planned for land off Middleton Avenue Ross-on-Wye, which would also include the demolition of an existing building on the site. The site is approximately 1.75 hectares and slopes to the west.

An environmental report submitted as part of the plans said that no badger sett structures were found on site during 2019 surveys. However, as no update visit was carried out since, and as badgers are a very mobile species and can quickly excavate new setts, it is recommended that the site should be inspected immediately before development activities.

The report also outlined the potential for a number of other forms of wildlife habitations and recommendations for how best to exercise caution.

Residential properties and their gardens border the site to the south east and west, whilst to the north is a residential garden next to the eastern corner, with the remainder bordering an arable field.
