Planning for the next Ross-on-Wye Town Carnival is already underway, and will, as it has since 1977, take place on the first Saturday in August.

This year it will be on Saturday, August 6th and the organisers have already held their first planning meeting for 2016.

The theme of this year’s Carnival will be ’Birthdays’ in honour of Her Majesty the Queen reaching 90 years old so now is the time to get your thinking cap on. The more people who take part with floats, or as walking entries in fancy dress, the better the day will be.

Thoughts of this year’s Carnival prompted a visit to the Ross Gazette archive where these pictures of the Carnival parade in 1992 stood out. Plenty of people had come to watch the parade, which included a float with a scene from Hawaii and possibly John Kyrle.
