The last Ross-on-Wye Town Council meeting, with its current elected councillors, took place on Monday, April 8th. Many of the current councillors are not standing for election, and there will be new faces deciding the future for Ross-on-Wye next month.

At the meeting, Councillor Harry Bramer said: “Thanks to all 18 councillors here today. All of you have in your own ways provided worthy wisdom. This is my last meeting as the current Mayor, so thank you all for your attention and detail to make sure we get it right.

“In my year as Mayor there have been many highlights, but perhaps the biggest highlight was seeing the number of people at St Mary’s Church on November 11th for the Battle’s Over, and then going out to the prospect. It felt like a whole town turnout.

Another highlight is the fact that £14,000 has been raised for Papyrus this year so far. I have enjoyed my time as Mayor, what a great pleasure, thank you.”

The local elections for District Council and Parish Council elections take place on May 2nd. The Ross Gazette invites all the candidates standing for election to Ross Town Council and those representing Ross, Penyard, Llangarron, Kerne Bridge and Old Gore wards at the District Council to provide a short biography of themselves and what they would like to achieve as a Councillor ( no more than 250 words) along with a picture. These will be included in a special section of the Gazette on April 24th.
