Herefordshire Council highways workers removed illegal election signs placed on the public highway on Thursday, May 23rd, following complaints from residents.
The local authority received complaints after residents spotted electoral boards on traffic lights, lampposts and road signs across the county.
The pictures the Local Democracy Reporting Service have received show signs supporting Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party.
The council could not say if they had received any complaints relating to other political parties because they do not keep a record of the signs they remove.
A Herefordshire Council spokesperson said: “Herefordshire Council is responsible for the running of the election but not the behaviour of individual parties or candidates.
“Concerns should be raised with the relevant party agent or, if it is believed that the rules on campaigning may have been breached, reported to the police.
“Any campaign sign that impairs visibility, is placed on an accident cluster site, or poses a risk to road users or pedestrians will, if seen by or reported to our team, be removed immediately.
“Anyone concerned about an unofficial sign on the roadside should call 01432 261800 so we can investigate and take appropriate action.”
