[UPDATE] The voter turnout for Hereford and South Herefordshire for the 2017 General Election was 71%.
-There has been a high turnout of voters at Ross-on-Wye polling stations today (Thursday, June 8th).
A polling officer at Tudorville and District Community Centre (TDCC) told the Ross Gazette that there was a queue of voters when it opened this morning at 7am, and there has been a steady stream of people coming to cast their votes ever since.
The polling officers at the Bowling Club also said they had seen a very good turnout of voters today, higher than in previous elections.
At other polling stations in Ross-on-Wye - The Larruperz Centre, the Swimming Pool, and The Venue - there has been a continuous flow of voters attending over the course of the day.
If you have not voted in the general election yet, make sure you do not forget to do so before 10pm tonight.
Yesterday, the Gazette reported that a local resident had contacted the paper, furious that she would have to pay to park in the Red Meadow car park, next to the Swimming Pool, in order to cast her vote. However, today, Herefordshire Council confirmed that parking enforcement officers would allow drivers time to vote if they park in the Red Meadow car park.
The spokesperson for Herefordshire Council commented: "Two polling stations are located within Herefordshire Council car parks; Ross-on-Wye swimming pool (Red Meadow) and The Master’s House in Ledbury (St Katherine’s). Parking enforcement officers will take show discretion at these two council-controlled car parks, to allow motorists time to vote without having to purchase a pay and display ticket. Normal car park rules apply at all other council public car parks across the county."
