The two Herefordshire MPs took opposing positions in last night’s (January 15th) vote on the Brexit withdrawal deal.
The Prime Minister, Theresa May, suffered a landslide defeat by a record 230 votes, and Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn, tabled a motion of no confidence in which MPs will vote at 7pm on January 16th.
Bill Wiggin, MP for North Herefordshire, joined 117 other Conservative rebels to vote against Mrs May’s deal while Jesse Norman, MP for Hereford and South Herefordshire, was one of 196 Conservatives who voted in favour of the deal.
Whatever the outcome of these votes it seems as if March 29th is still going to be the date set for the UK to leave the European Union.
