Local?MP Jesse Norman was recently in Birmingham at the Conservative Party Conference, and told the Ross Gazette that he had to explain government policy as a Minister for the first time.

Mr Norman has also asked the Ross Gazette to remind readers about the Boundary Review which is currently taking place. Although it will have little impact on his own constituency he feels it is important that each constituency has a similar number of voters so that individual votes do not count for less in some places than in others.

He said that he has reviewed the plans for his own constituency of Hereford and South Herefordshire, in detail, and thinks that they seem ‘thoroughly sensible’.

He said:?“The proposal rightly keeps the Golden Valley as a whole within the constituency, and it preserves the important link between Ross-on-Wye and the city of Hereford.

The Commission did not have much scope for change, because the constituency is bounded to the West by Wales, and to the South by Gloucestershire, and these are treated as separate areas under the legislation.

The consultation runs until December 5th and Mr Norman is urging residents to visit www.bce2018.org.uk to find out more, then make your views known by attending one of the public meetings to be held, or by making a submission in writing.
