Three people have been nominated for the election of a Ross-on-Wye East Ward Councillor.

They are Paul Symonds, Terry Prince and Thomas Small. The Gazette invited each of the candidates to tell readers a little about themselves and why the residents of East Ward should vote for them.

The election will be held on June 14th and there will be three polling stations. The polling stations, which will be open from 7am until 10pm, are The Venue, Hill Street, Tudorville & District Community Centre and the Larruperz Community Centre.

Ross-on-Wye has been my home for almost as long as I remember; I moved here when I was five-years-old attending Walford Primary School, then John Kyrle High School.

I grew up playing football and rugby in its parks, and walking our family dogs along the cycle path. Now I get to attend fantastic local events such as Proms in the Park or the Christmas Fair, these are just a few of the things that make this town such a special place and I want to help preserve them.

For all these great things Ross isn’t prefect, we have problems with litter, road safety (speeding and potholes) and dog mess. We need more litter picks, further traffic calming measures and more bins around the ward.

We are lucky to have a council that is full of experience, with many long serving councillors who work hard for the town. However, as residents of Ross-on-Wye we need more than just experience for our town to improve. I say we need someone with new ideas, fresh ways of thinking and who will embrace new technology to connect with all generations of people who live here – I can be that person.

With your support on June 14th we can make it happen and make the council more representative of the town as a whole.See this week’s paper for the details about all three candidates, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now
