Update: The current MP for Hereford and South Herefordshire, Jesse Norman, has confirmed that he intends to stand for re-election in the forthcoming general election on June 8th.
Mr Norman told the Gazette: "I will need to be formally adopted once more as the official Conservative party candidate. But subject to that I absolutely intend to stand for re-election on June 8th.
"Having won the seat in 2010 I was massively honoured to be re-elected by a majority of nearly 17,000 votes in 2015, and I very much look forward to making the case again to the people of Hereford and South Herefordshire in the coming campaign."
-Prime Minister, Theresa May, has made a shock announcement this morning, Tuesday, April 18th.
The PM announced that she will hold a General Election on Thursday, June 8th.
She is to table a motion in the House of Commons tomorrow, Wednesday, April 19th and has called on MPs to back an election.
In her statement MP Theresa May said "An election is the only way to ensure stability" She continued "Division in Westminster will risk our ability to make a success of Brexit." She ended her statement with "It is with strong conviction that I believe it is necessary to secure a strong and stable leadership this country needs."
The next election was not due until 2020.
