Councillor Hannah Lerego is urging Ross-on-Wye residents to attend the next full Town Council meeting on Monday, July 11th to take up the opportunity to speak to the Councillors.

During the meeting, which is held in the Council Chambers at the Corn Exchange in High Street, Ross, a recommendation by the Open Spaces Committee that a barrier be installed at the Red Meadow Car Park will be discussed.

Councillor Lerego has posted the following comment on her Facebook page: "Ross Residents please attend Monday night 7pm at Council Offices on High Street. The first 15 minutes is given over to public views. I will be voting in favour of a barrier."

Councillor Valerie Coker has also commented. She posted: “Me too, but I agree that it would be great if lots of people come to the meeting to give their views and hopefully support our efforts to protect the town.”

Several Councillors spoke to the Ross Gazette last week about the possibility of raising the funds needed for a barrier at the car park which is often used by large groups of Travellers during visits to Ross.

Residents and local business owners complain that they block parking spaces, cause mess and disruption. A barrier to stop the Travellers being able to gain access has been suggested but the car park is owned by Herefordshire Council so responsibility for paying for the barrier would normally rest with them.
