The results in Hereford and South Herefordshire in the 2017 General election have reflected voting across the rest of the country. Conservative Jesse Norman, who has won the last two elections, held his seat, but there was a huge increase in the Labour vote.

Anna Coda for Labour achieved second place, and this was the first time for many years that Labour has come second in this constituency.

A post on the AnnaCoda4Labour Face book page stated, "Although we didn’t win, the result is truly exceptional. Anna has yet again doubled her votes, receiving more votes than the collective total of all the other losing candidates.”

“This is the first time in the 38 years that Anna has campaigned in the area the Labour has come second.”

In 2015, Nigel Ely for UKIP was in second place, followed by Labour. In 2010, Liberal Democrat Sarah Carr was in second place, again followed by Labour, represented by Philippa Roberts.

Verified voter turnout for Hereford and South Herefordshire in 2017 was 71%, an increase on 2015 when it was 66.8%.

Jesse Norman who held Hereford and Herefordshire South was returned with a majority of 15,013.

Jim Kenyon, Independent, who came third, ahead of the Lib Dems, Greens and UKIP posted the following message, “Well guys I didn’t make it but I did have 5,560 folks of Hereford and South Herefordshire that believed in me, which is very humbling. I came third beating three national parties. Thank you to all my team. Good news is back to the day job as a city and county councillor congrats to Jessie I will be watching to ensure he’s does what’s right for Herefordshire at every vote he takes.”
